BlackBerry Motion Review: No More Physical Keys

BlackBerry Motion Review. Whenever we talk about the characteristics of the BlackBerry phones, the first thing that comes to our mind is the phone with a keyboard. However not every BlackBerry phone has the keyboard like the BlackBerry Motion. Indeed it?s the first IP rated BlackBerry phone in the market.

BlackBerry Motion Review: No More Physical Keys

BlackBerry Motion was released in the year 2017. It has got 5.5? display along with some handy buttons on the side. The home button has the BlackBerry logo on it which also acts as a fingerprint sensor like most of the Android phones. The Price of BlackBerry motion in the US is about $500 which is somehow a little bit more than the features it packs inside.

BlackBerry Motion: The Ups and Downs

BlackBerry Motion comes with more battery life, unlike its other family members. Unfortunately, the only bad thing about it is the 2 years old processor. Not only the processor, but the average quality camera and the big design make the device a little bit uncomfortable to use.

The upside of the phone lies in its 4000mAh battery which is truly amazing. According to BlackBerry, this is the largest battery been ever used inside a BlackBerry phone. So on a single charge, the battery may last more than 32 hours. If you use a Quick Charge 3.0 charger with the USB Type-C port that comes inside the box, then you might top-up the battery to full within 45 minutes.

Talking about the good stuff of BlackBerry Motion, then it is obviously the design. It is a typical solid brick looking phone with rubber back and brushed metal structure. However, the Motion got IP 67 rating to avoid any water or dust which is something that covers the flaws in design. But be careful when you take the phone out of your pocket.

Keeping aside the battery and design of the phone, there are other factors I personally did not like this phone. Definitely, the battery is not something that might surprise us, as BlackBerry Motion uses 2 years old Snapdragon 625 CPU. This is the processor that we saw in some other BlackBerry phones like the BlackBerry KeyOne. Motorola also used this processor in its Moto Z which was a long-lasting phone. However, phones with Snapdragon 625 processor do not perform with power-hungry apps of today. With 2GB of Ram, the BlackBerry Motion lags when we switch between the apps.

The 5.5? LCD screen with 1080p quality also contributes in the longer battery life on Motion. The color quality is perfect and everything seems to be balanced. Although, there are large bezels on the phone the screen looks large due to 16:9 ratio.

BlackBerry Motion Review of Camera

Just like the out-dated processor, the imaging quality of the front and back cameras is average. BlackBerry Motion has 12 Megapixel rear and 8 Megapixel front-facing cameras. Well, the shooting quality is not bad but it is not something that can be praised as well.

BlackBerry Motion comes with Android Nougat 7.1.1 operating system. At the moment we were expecting BlackBerry to launch this phone with Oreo. But it is confirmed that we will surely see the update from BlackBerry Motion. BlackBerry is good at taking care of their phones with latest security updates.

Should you buy BlackBerry Motion?

So after making the above BlackBerry Motion Review, I might not buy the phone as it lacks the very own BlackBerry features. Also, there are many other similar options available in the market with more promising features. I personally think that OnePlus 5T and Moto X4 are good options to go for at the moment. But if you are a person that spends most of the time outside then BlackBerry Motion is good as it holds good battery life.
